Our Rates and Billing

Generally, the research phase of a project costs $5,000 - $8,000 and takes about a week to ten days to get completed. The research will be assembled into Word documents, formatted into professional exhibits that can be used with either an Expert’s Report or or other filing. The exhibits and a summary of findings will be sent to you for review.

After you have had an opportunity to review the research results you can determine if you wish to have an Expert’s Report prepared. Generally, the production of an Expert’s Report costs an additional $12,000 - $18,000 and takes about 3-4 weeks to be completed.

For matters before District Courts you may wish to have a “Factors of Confusion” analysis prepared. Factors of Confusion analysis, following the practices for your specific circuit, generally cost an additional $5,000 - $8,000.

New clients should expect to pay a $5,000 retainer to begin the project. Invoices are prepared at the end of each month and are sent to you with a detailed time log of all charges. Terms are Net 30 Days although we understand that your firm probably won’t pay my invoice until you have received an appropriate payment from your client.

Our Fee Guarantee

There is nothing worse that expecting an invoice for $5,000 and receiving a bill for $6,500. Illuminor protects you and your client against run-away fees. Before beginning any research for your case, you will be provided with a written fee estimate (such as $5,000 - $8,000). Unless the scope of work is changed, you will not be invoiced more than $8,000 for the research even if we spend more on the actual research. In most instances, our actual invoice is about 85% of the research maximum.

After we complete the research phase we will be better able to provide you with a more accurate cost for the production of an Expert’s Report, although most Expert Reports cost about $16,000. As with the research phase, you will be provided with a written estimate of the cost for the Expert’s Report and the cap will be protected as with the research phase.
